IP Exchange becomes NorthC Deutschland GmbH

In November 2002, NorthC Group successfully completed its acquisition of German IP Exchange GmbH changing their name to NorthC Deutschland GmbH and marks the first step in opening up their expansion into the German market. With the acquisition, the company also underlines its goal of becoming the leading provider of regional data center services in Europe, with robust growth in the German-speaking region.

In the Netherlands, NorthC is the market leader and largest regional data center provider, with 11 regional data centers across the country. Plus they recently launched their first branches in Switzerland. In the long term, NorthC wants to continue this growth right across Europe, creating a platform of interconnected regional data centers for regional expertise and locations on a national level.

To build and manage operations in the DACH region, NorthC has appointed industry pioneer Frank Zachmann. As managing director, he is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the German branch and for expanding the NorthC Group throughout the DACH region. Zachmann can build on more than 25 years of relevant experience and has actively shaped the market for colocation providers in Germany since the late 1990s. His previous roles include VP of Business Development EMEA for data center company Equinix and Group Director of Marketing & Strategy at Interxion.

Alexandra Schless, CEO NorthC Group said: “The appointment of Frank Zachmannas as managing director and the name change to NorthC Deutschland GmbH is another step in our growth strategy. In the coming years, NorthC aims to become the largest regional data center provider throughout Europe, with the DACH region being an important springboard. As an experienced manager with unparalleled knowledge in this sector, Frank is the right person to propagate our market approach and vision in the German-speaking countries.” She continued: “We find that our local focus and personal approach is catching on with customers in Germany and Switzerland. That approach, coupled with our focus on continuity, connectivity, and sustainability, is becoming the key to our broad European success.”

Regional presence means regional responsibility
NorthC provides hybrid multi-cloud solutions, colocation services, and customized connectivity solutions for small regional businesses, medium-sized enterprises, large organizations, government agencies, and cloud and IT service providers. The company’s motto is “Digital Business and Personal Connections. This motto reflects that NorthC – compared to international providers whose local branches are often purely sales-oriented – places great value on local presence, expertise, and responsibility in the various markets. Local personnel and management structures allow NorthC to offer the same level of service and consulting quality at each regional location as purely local providers.

Zachmann has big plans for the German language area. Over the next three years, he plans to open several more branches in Germany and Switzerland and enter the Austrian market. NorthC underlines its expertise in the southern German region with its first two branches in Germany. The two sustainable data centers in Nuremberg and Munich have an area of 10,500 m2 and 5,000 m2, respectively, and run on 100% certified green electricity. Both data centers are built according to the DIN 50600 CAT III standard and meet the highest security requirements and certifications.
