NorthC appoints Maarten Goeman as Managing Director for the Netherlands

NorthC has appointed Maarten Goeman as Managing Director for the Netherlands, effective November 1, 2026. He will oversee the further expansion of NorthC’s data center platform in the Netherlands and strengthening strategic partnerships with customers and partners, with a particular emphasis on developments in AI and sustainability. Goeman previously served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Mediterra Datacenters in Italy and, prior to that, held the position of Vice President of Corporate Development at NorthC. Maarten Goeman succeeds Jan Willem Dees.

Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC: “We are delighted to see Maarten return to NorthC, now as Managing Director for the Netherlands. Thanks to his in-depth knowledge of our organization and of the data center market, he is ideally positioned to guide our continued growth in the Netherlands. Under his leadership, together with our customers and partners, we will take the next step in strengthening our Dutch platform and offering reliable, sustainable, and sovereign data center solutions.”

Expanding the Dutch platform and role in society

With Goeman’s appointment, NorthC is further sharpening its strategic direction in the Netherlands. Key priorities for the coming years include expanding data center capacity at existing locations and developing new data centers in other locations. This will enable NorthC to seamlessly support its customers as they work toward their digitalization goals.

The market demand is evolving rapidly. NorthC sees increasing demand for data center capacity, driven by the growing focus on sovereign IT solutions and swift developments in AI, and specific applications such as AI inference are contributing to this growth. At the same time, key challenges around network congestion, sustainability, and government guidelines for data centers play a key role in the further evolution of the Dutch data center landscape.

Maarten Goeman, Managing Director Netherlands at NorthC: “Data centers are the backbone of our digital economy, but their societal and environmental impact requires continuous dialogue and action. In recent years, the data center industry has already made enormous strides in energy efficiency and reducing water consumption, and we remain focused on these areas. At the same time, there is a growing need in the Netherlands and in Europe for digital sovereignty, to reduce dependence on non-EU parties. NorthC wants to be an active part of the solution. We do this by collaborating locally to address grid congestion, enabling exchange of residual heat, and building regional ecosystems with various partners. In addition to our established client groups, such as IT service providers, (semi-)public organizations, and businesses, we are focusing increasingly on organizations that are deploying AI services and High-Performance Computing (HPC).”

Maarten Goeman holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance & Investments from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
