In 2022, NorthC Group acquired three data centers from Netrics in Switzerland. The Biel data center is located right in the heart of Espace Mittelland (cantons Bern, Fribourg, Jura, Neuchâtel and Solothurn). This data center is strategically positioned in the high tech and industrial center of the region, Bözingenfeld.

Energy efficiency and residual heat

Energy efficiency and sustainability were key consideration in the design of the Biel data center – ensuring it always operates at peak energy efficiency. Our location runs on 100% hydro power, whilst the heat generated in the data center is used to provide heating to surrounding buildings. The local heat network and nearby businesses also use residual heat from the data center. Added to this, residual heat is also used to keep our emergency power generators at operating temperature.

Aquisition of Netrics data centers

In 2022, NorthC Group acquired the data centers of Swiss company Netrics, in Biel/Bienne and Münchenstein. As a result of this acquisition, we’ve expanded our growing network of regional data centers in northwest Europe and we can now provide services to clients based in Switzerland. Our data centers offer clients a solid and secure foundation for their IT environment, with direct access to a large ecosystem of regional, national and international cloud and network providers. Our Swiss data centers are linked via a high-speed backbone fiber-optic network and have a strong position in the Basel and Biel-Bern regions.
