CORPUS offers an impressive look into how the human body works. During our New Year’s event, we will not only ring in the new year but also reflect on the influence of technology on our well-being. Hersenstichting

During our New Year’s event, Professor Erik Scherder will talk about the influence of technology on our brain and mental well-being. As an ambassador for the Hersenstichting (Brain Foundation), he is committed to raising awareness about brain health, especially at a time when technology is demanding more and more of us. NorthC will actively support the Hersenstichting throughout 2026 by raising awareness, supporting initiatives and involving customers.

The Hersenstichting funds scientific research, promotes prevention and education, and supports innovations that help people with brain disorders participate in daily life.

By increasing knowledge and embracing innovative technology, the Hersenstichting reduces the impact of disorders such as dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy and brain injury.

Keynote Speakers

Erik Scherder

Professor of clinical neuropsychology

Prof. Erik Scherder is a professor of clinical neuropsychology at VU University Amsterdam and a sought-after speaker on the influence of technology on our brains. In his recent book Liever moe dan lui (Better tired than lazy), he introduces the term ‘Declining Intelligence’ (DI) to describe the negative effects of excessive use of artificial intelligence on our brains. Scherder emphasises that the convenience of technology makes our brains lazy, leading to declines in cognitive functions such as memory, creative thinking, and concentration. He warns of the dangers of “digital dementia” and advocates for more physical and mental effort to keep our brains healthy.
