NorthC Group continues its expansion into the DACH region with the addition of a data center in Winterthur (Zurich area), Switzerland. This brings the total number of NorthC data centers in Switzerland to four, following the acquisition of three data centers from Netrics, in April 2022. This new addition represents the next step in NorthC Group’s growth strategy for the Benelux and DACH regions, after the company started its international expansion with the acquisition of two data centers in Germany, in September 2021.
Kyndryl Switzerland GmbH, part of the Kyndryl Group which is one of the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider, has signed a Managed Service Agreement for colocation services in the Winterthur data center, becoming the first customer of NorthC in this data center. NorthC will also make the data center facilities in Winterthur available to other organisations in the region.

This will be the 17th NorthC data center, located in an important growth market, the Zurich region. We see the continuous need for digitisation within enterprises and public organisations, which drives the demand for data center services. As in our other data centers in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, we will build an ecosystem of regional IT partners in the Zurich area, in order to support local businesses with their digital transformation. Of course, we will also bring our key NorthC values to this data center, such as our focus on sustainability and strong, personal customer relations.”
The Winterthur data center is an important data communications nexus for the region, with a broad range of key telecoms carriers present within the facility. The data center currently has an IT capacity of 1.8MW, with further expansion possibilities to support growth demands.

NorthC will operate this data center and connect this location to the three other NorthC data centers in Switzerland, located in Münchenstein (Basel area) and Biel (Bern area).
